We at Atticus Law Group condemn, in the strongest terms possible, President Trump’s coordinated effort—through executive action and political pressure—to punish law firms for doing what the Constitution requires of us: providing fearless legal representation, regardless of politics.
When the government retaliates against lawyers for representing disfavored clients, it crosses a line that separates democracy from authoritarianism. The recent executive actions aimed at firms like Perkins Coie are not just attacks on individual lawyers—they are an attack on the rule of law itself. No functioning democracy survives when advocacy is met with retribution and courts are treated as partisan battlegrounds.
The irony is hard to miss. The same administration that claims to defend freedom seeks to intimidate lawyers into silence. The same actors who champion “law and order” have no hesitation undermining the very people charged with upholding it. That’s not principled—it’s opportunistic. And we have already seen one large law firm bend the knee and kiss the ring.
At Atticus Law Group, we don’t align with power—we align with process. We believe in an adversarial system where lawyers advocate freely, judges and juries decide independently, and outcomes are driven by facts and law, not fear or favor. We are proud to stand with every law firm now in the administration’s crosshairs simply for doing their job. If anything, these attacks reaffirm why our role matters.
This is not a moment for professional neutrality. It is definitely not a time for compromise. The legal community must meet these threats with resolve and clarity. The rule of law doesn’t protect itself. We must do so with courage and conviction.
